Bible memory

I realized that I've pretty much lost memory of all the verses I had memorized before. Last Sunday's passage was on Joshua 1:8; one of the verses I still kinda remember; but it's fading...knowing God's word off by heart was so cool because they would just come up at the right times during the day - be it a quick rebuke straight from God, or an encouragement, or when talking to someone, it was intertwined with thought and prayer. Now I can only think of the gist of it...and it does the Living Word absolutely no justice! I think I'm going to pick up those Bible memory cards that I got from Lloyd in grade 11 and start memorizing again. I really miss it. Cell group in UW CCF used to do it every week - we made it a game - it was really good accountability. I've really been lacking in discipline lately - too unfocused...

Ok, this week's verse will be..I'm gonna start with Joshua 1:8-9

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

I think I appreciate memory verses so much more now than when I was a child in sunday school ... I'm still bad at preparing .. I only remember 2 of my memory verses so far from the last 3 months of sunday school at church ... but yes .. I find it very much and important discipline .. and surprisingly the 2 memory verses I did remember have been beneficial in the recurring spiritual themes in my life ..

So you go girl ... I'll poll you on all your memory verses when I come home ... "prizes" if you get them all =P
